Germany tightens legislation on ammonia emissions

In May 2018 the Bundestag adopted new national regulations for reduction of emissions in Germany.

The decision implements the requirements of EU’s NEC Directive. After that, Germany will have to reduce its emissions of ammonia by 29 percent by 2030 compared to 2005 levels. The average reduction requirement for all EU countries is 19 percent. The German farmers’ association, DBV, fears that the new regulation is very difficult for farmers to fulfil.
